What is maintenance-free?
Maintenance-free means that there is nothing special you need to do to George & Son Designs furniture to keep it looking great. Our powder coating is the best grade used in the industry. That said, the sun will eventually break down any paint. The amount and intensity of the sun exposure will determine how long the powder coating performs at a high level.
Should I put my bench away for the winter?
All of our products are made to be outdoors year-round, however, any way that you can limit exposure to the elements will extend the life of the powder coating.
Can I restore a faded bench to new condition?
Absolutely. Clean the metal, reprime it with Rustoleum Rust Reformer, then top coat with either "oil rubbed bronze" or "hammered steel" spray paint.
Assembly Tips:
To properly align metal parts, all hardware should first be fastened to about one rotation from being snug. DO NOT “tighten as you go.”
Do not overtighten. A small socket wrench is adequate. A power drill/socket is quicker, but also more likely to over-torque and damage the unit. It is also more likely to strip the powder-coat off of the hardware, allowing rust to form.
